About

American Chemical Society - Student Affiliates (ACS-SA), also known as the Chemistry Club, is the student chapter of ACS at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. In addition to serving as a support system, it presents students in the chemical sciences with information regarding the possibilities available to them before and after graduation. Our aim is to promote personal and professional development through organized events throughout the year.

For general questions, contact Kali Miller.

Tutoring

The success in introductory courses is essential for a good foundation in chemistry. Chemistry club offers tutoring from other members in the group who have proved to proficient in those areas. To be tutored, there is no fee but you must be an active member of the organization. After taking these classes, please consider tutoring your fellow members; it is a good experience and can serve as a stepping-stone for other tutoring positions elsewhere in the university.

The classes we tutor differ every semester, based on the need of tutees and availability of tutors. Contact Josh Kim with any questions or requests.

Mentoring

Some things are learned best from the experienced. Two upperclassmen are paired with three to four underclassmen (or transfer students) and they arrange times outside of chemistry club activities to meet; conversations topics include classes, research opportunities, housing, or anything else that is of concern to a student unfamiliar with the university.

If you are interested, please contact Josh Kim with any questions.

Become a Member

To be an active member, each year you must:

Exceptions may be given for those involved in other aspects of the club and will be discussed on an individual basis.

For questions or concerns regarding membership, contact Jeffrey Sayler.

Photos

Here's a compilation of the latest photographs! Have any ACS-SA oriented photographs? Send them over to Eunice Son.

Assassins

For those unfamiliar with the game, players try to eliminate each other using mock weapons in an effort to become the last surviving player. Chemistry club starts a game at the beginning of each year to help new members become more involved in the group.
If you are interested in joining at any time in the year, contact Karol Sokolowski

Networks

Here is a list of all the networks ACS-SA is affiliated with that will help students like you to research various avenues, as well as being up to date on the latest news in the chemistry world.
