Richard Alkire, Richard Braatz

Many science and engineering problems are characterized by a wide range of time and length scales. Different ranges of temporal and spatial scales are characterized by different physical assumptions. In order to efficiently develop cohesive simulations of these systems, it is appropriate to use a suite of mathematical models specific to these assumptions, and to link these models at the boundaries of the individual domains. The models developed in the Alkire laboratory are incorporated within the Alliance Science Portal, in order to allow the results to be distributed to the wider scientific community and to foster and enable distributed collaboration.
