B.S., Chemistry, Illinois Wesleyan University
I am an Illinois native from the suburbs of Chicago. I obtained my B.S. in Chemistry from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. My undergraduate research under Professor Brian Brennan was focused on discovering new ligands for Sickle Cell hemoglobin, synthesizing combinatorial libraries of cyclic peptides in the hope of discovering novel therapeutics for Sickle Cell Disease.
I came into my undergraduate career as a biology major, but quickly fell in love with organic chemistry, beginning research and deciding to get my Ph.D in chemistry. In the fall of 2011, I started as a full time graduate student, and joined the Denmark group.
Outside of lab I enjoy juggling, solving my Rubik’s cube, as well as playing the guitar, banjo, harmonica, and piano.
