B.S. Chemistry, Texas Christian University, 2011
I grew up in Houston, TX and attended nearby Texas Christian University (TCU) as an undergraduate. During my time at TCU, I worked as a physical chemist in the laboratories of Dr. Onofrio Annunziata, studying the interactions of the polymer poly (vinyl alcohol) with TPPS porphyrin (tetraphenylporphyrin(tetrasulfonate)). I graduated summa cum laude from TCU in May 2011 with a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Math. Later that year, I moved to Illinois, where I joined Professor Scott Denmark's research group at the University of Illinois. My research is devoted to the development of new reactions in the realm of Asymmetric Phase-Transfer Catalysis. When I am not in lab, I enjoy movies, exercise, and learning the Spanish language.
