Biography
I am originally from Southgate, Michigan, and graduated with my B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2009. My undergraduate research under the direction of Prof. Matt Mio was focused on Cu(I) catalyzed cross coupling of aryl alkynes.
I worked in the Denmark research group as an undergraduate Snyder scholar in the summer of 2008 and decided to return to the group to pursue my Ph.D. My current research is focused on the design of chiral quaternary ammonium catalysts for the reactions of higher pKa carbon nucleophiles.
Prior to becoming a full time graduate student, I spent a lot of time playing piano and doing chemistry outreach with my undergraduate chemistry club.
