B.A., Biochemistry, Swarthmore College, 2009
I was born in Istanbul, Turkey, where I lived until the end of high school. As an undergrad, I studied at Swarthmore College, PA. During my time as an undergrad, I worked in the lab of Prof. Liliya Yatsunyk on the synthesis of of novel B-cationic porphyrins. I graduated from Swarthmore with highest honors in 2009 with a B.A. in Biochemistry as well as a minor in Math. I joined Denmark group in Fall 2009 as a doctoral student and I am currently working in the Lewis Base subgroup, investigating the enantioselective thioetherification of olefins. While I am outside the lab I enjoy computer games, reading and long drives.
