Biography
My love of chemistry began in high school and was fostered under the supervision of Professor Yun Lu of Southern Illinois University, where I received my B.S. in chemistry in 2006 and my M.S. in December of 2008. My Master’s thesis research investigated the role of carboxycation formation and stability in the hydride transfer oxidation of secondary alcohols to ketones by mildly oxidizing aromatic salts.
I joined the Denmark group in October of 2010, and my current research interest is the study of the stereochemical stability and reactivity of iodonium ions.
When I’m not in the Lab, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife Mary, watching bad television and playing video games.
