SCS STAFF AWARDS 2010-2011
Each year the SCS recognizes a few of our many outstanding staff for a special thank-you. This year's staff awards recognize the following individuals:
Gretchen Adams
Gretchen Adams is Program Director of the Department of Chemistry's Merit Workshop. Her nominators writes that "Gretchen Adams gets raves reviews from her students and is a real gen chem star." "She has been collaborating with other units to write successful proposals to NSF (Merit MIST and the ICLCS grant) which is remarkable for an AP without a Ph.D. She also wrote significant parts of the recently-awarded REU site grant. Her teaching in Chem 101 is amazing - regularly receiving ICES scores of 5.0 and making the Incomplete List of Instructors Ranked as Excellent by their Students."
Cheryl Kappes
Cheryl Kappes is the Office Manager for the School of Chemical Sciences. Cheryl keeps the many and varied aspects of the School running smoothly. Her nominators write "Cheryl is of course, in a league all her own! I don't have to tell you how good she is. Cheryl is just an outstanding individual and absolutely deserving of the Service Award!" "Cheryl is one of the most conscientious and pleasant people at the University." "All across campus people know how nice she is, and also how good she is."
Becky Lyle
Becky Lyle is an Office Support Specialist with the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She works with both faculty and students, and is responsible for scheduling ChBE's commencement each year. Her nominator writes that she is "hard working, well organized, diligent, and independent. To put it bluntly, she makes my life easier. I would like to see her hard work and accomplishments rewarded." She's always able to help me with my last-minute requests, such as arranging additional rooms for my course exams when I forget to request them. She's a pleasure to work with.
