Brief Biography

Emily graduated in May 2011 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, double majoring in both Molecular & Cellular Biology and in Chemistry. She performed undergraduate research with Prof. Scott K. Silverman and was also a supplemental instruction (SI) leader in the CHEM 332 class for several semesters. After graduation, she was a research staff member at Stanford University for a year before joining the graduate program in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley.

Research Interests

My research examined the metal dependence of deoxyribozymes that hydrolyze DNA, using in vitro selection and biochemical assays. My research also examined the importance of random region length on DNA catalysis.
