Brief Biography

Jimmy Chu received his B.S. degree in chemistry from National Taiwan University in 2010. Following one year of military service, he joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a graduate student in chemistry in Fall 2011, where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Scott K. Silverman on studies of deoxyribozymes. He earned his Ph.D. degree in April 2017, and in August 2017 he moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts to begin his career at Bluebird Bio, Inc.

Research Interests

My research efforts in the Silverman lab were focused on identifying new deoxyribozymes that function with folded protein substrates. I also pursued deoxyribozymes for lysine alkylation reactions.
