Complete James Scholar Honors Learning Agreement if you are a certified James Scholar (forms available in your college Honors office). Bring this with you to your training session!
All forms will be signed at the training sessions by Jesse Miller, director of the REACT Program, or one of his representatives.
Finish registration online where you will choose a training session time and date.
In order to receive honors credit you must:
Attend your scheduled training session in 111 Noyes Lab.
Sign-up and attend a one (1) hour prep room time. (Most students forget to do their prep room hour, so WRITE DOWN THE TIME AND DATE!)
Meet with your group prior to your visit to plan your trip. (Form must be filled and signed by ALL members.)
Obtain a B- or better in your respective chemistry course.
Complete the requirements of your individual program (see below).
All of the Programs (3rd grade, Family Nights, 4th grade, and Others) will count for James Scholar Credit)
*Note if you are in Chemistry 232, 236, 332, or 436 you will be in a different program other than the typical program in order to obtain Honors Credit.
3rd and 4th grade program:
Visit a minimum of two classrooms!
3-hour time block is necessary
We will e-mail you all the information! Present conflicts immediately!
If you miss your visit due to an unexcusable abscence it will be up to the facult director to determin if you will be rescheduled.
Other Program:
The tasks involve other events such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts merit badge training and Trick-or-Treat with Chemistry Alternative Halloween program.
Family Nights program:
Help with one evening family night program. You must set up, prepare materials on-site, and break down.
All students will write a half to full-page report on the experience, within 1 week after scheduled classroom visit (e-mail this to us at
