The Gruebele Group is engaged in experiments and computational modeling to study a broad range of fundamental problems in chemical and biological physics. A common theme in the experiments is the development of new instruments to interrogate and manipulate complex molecular systems. We coupled experiments with quantum or classical simulations as well as simple models. The results of these efforts are contributing to a deeper understanding of RNA and proteins folding in vitro and in vivo, of how vibrational energy flows around within molecules, of single molecule absorption spectroscopy, and of the dynamics of glasses.
